On October 19, museum educator Margreet Koeman gave the lecture ‘Humor in Art from the 16th Century to the Present’ in the Forum of Zandvoorts Museum. It was the first lecture in the new building. Zandvoorts Museum organizes several lectures with various themes. <\/p>\n

With interest from the visitors, the lecture was opened by Fokelien Renckens-Stenneberg, director a.i. of Zandvoorts Museum. Then Margreet Koeman started her lecture on humor in art. In the paintings of the 16th century, the jokes are hidden. A century later, the jokes became part of the paintings. The well-to-do bourgeoisie bought these paintings to show to friends and acquaintances. During the lecture, Margreet made connections between contemporary art forms and the past. The use of satire by van Kooten & De Bie can be traced back to the caricatures and satirical prints from the 18th century. It was a special lecture and lets you look at paintings and prints from different periods in a different way. <\/p>\n

Lectures<\/h3>\n

In 2025, there will be 2 other lectures. On November 9, ceramicist Paulien Ploeger will give the lecture ‘A Piece of Earth’<\/a> and on December 14, anthropologist\/historian Folkert Bloeme will give the lecture ‘The Reconstruction of Zandvoort’<\/a>. <\/p>\n
